Mr. Charles Hopkins Albritton III, 66, passed away Monday, January 15, 2018, at Duke University Medical Center following a courageous battle with cancer. Born May, 3, 1951, Charles was the eldest child of Charles Hopkins Albritton, Jr and Bille Johnson Albritton. Following graduation from high school, Charles completed his secondary education at Campbell College, what is today Campbell University. After graduating from college, Charles joined in the operation and management of a family enterprise, The Albritton Company, assuming its presidency upon the death of his father. Professionally, Charles was instrumental in establishing and partnering with several ventures ranging from real estate, to subsidiary entities of family holdings, to Tile Restoration Incorporated (TRI) which is operated by his sons.
Charles had many interests and hobbies but a love of horses possessed much of his passion. Both community and civic oriented, he was always willing to aide and advise interests that promoted Hookerton, Greene County, and ultimately eastern North Carolina. He loved to play golf and could often be found at Cutter Creek with friends and family enjoying a round. Charles was a member of Grace Fellowship Church in Kinston and loved his church family and the Christian fellowship that it offered.
Left to cherish his memory are his mother, Bille Johnson Albritton of Hookerton; children, Brad Albritton and wife, Amanda of Kinston, Ryan Albritton and wife, Jenna of Winterville, and Blair Albritton Taft and husband, Thomas of Greenville; grandchildren, Lily Albritton, Jack Albritton, Graham Albritton, Carter Albritton and Thomas Taft III; sisters, Deborah Albritton Katkaveck and husband, Steve of Hookerton, and Donna Albritton of Raleigh; brothers, Paul Albritton of Kinston and David Albritton and wife, Anne of Kinston; and several nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
A service to celebrate and remember Charles’ life will be held 2 PM Thursday, January 18, at Grace Fellowship Church, 327 Academy Heights Road, Kinston, NC, with Pastor Jason McKnight officiating. Committal services will immediately follow at the Hookerton UMC Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Thursday one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorials in Charles’ memory to the NC Horse Council, 4904 Waters Edge Drive #290, Raleigh, NC 27606. Online condolences may be expressed at www.taylor-tyson.com

I am born and raised from Hookerton, NC. I grew to know Charles personal at the furniture store in Hookerton. I have purchased numerous items from Albritton's. It was a running joke when I went in to purchase something and would also choose the most expensive and Charles would say with a big smile, "you got good taste". I was heartbroken to learn of his passing. My condolences and prayers are extended to Ms. Billie and his entire family. Charles was truly a great person and had a beautiful spirit!
